Isaiah Rashad offers some food (for thought) for the less fortunate on his new track “Free Lunch.”

The first single off the Top Dawg Entertainment rapper’s debut album The Sun’s Tirade, Rashad spits about coming up on a meal ticket while carving out your own path like a Ginsu.

Produced by Cam O’bi, the Chattanooga rapper captures the slow pace with hunger in his voice.  The hook goes,

“Meal ticket, ticket, meal ticket, ticket, comma, uh

Steel in my liver, real n****s in my condom, huh

Phil hit me back, filled this one with a powder pack

Pill bring me back, feel this one out in California”

While it doesn’t exactly remind you of the free cafeteria food school days of square pizza, semi-warm chicken patties and old hamburger buns, as the title might imply, it’s totally fit for consumption.

Rashad’s new album is the follow-up to his 2014 Cilvia Demo EP which he dropped shortly after signing his deal with Top.  According to reports, this project features guest spots from TDE label mates, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and SZA as well as contemporaries like Syd, Zacari, Hugh Augustine, Kari Faux and others.

The production credits are spread among a number of beat makers with several fresh names along with known commodities like Dave Free, Cam O’bi, Al B. Smoov, Mike WiLL Made-It and more.

Get in line.
